More Frugal Ideas

These are not tips I have only heard, these are ones that I use personally.

  • When I receive mail, if the bad of the letter is clean paper, I save it and use it for scrap paper or paper for my grandchildren to color or draw on.
  • I got through my junk mail and bills that send envelopes and I use them to put my bank deposits in or to sort my coupons.
  • If I buy the liquid hand soap at a really good price, is the only way I buy it, but I dump half in another container and add half water to the pump and it works great and goes twice as far.
  • I buy the coke bottles with the caps for my mother-in-law to drink because she drinks on one all day long and they don't go flat and can be put in fridge and still cold when she wants it. These are only bought when on sale too.
  • When I am printing things for my children's church or Wednesday night class and it prints wrong, I don't throw the paper away. I use it to print a coloring sheet on the other side or to cut up for scrap paper, etc.
  • The friends that are online, I send cards through the www so I don't have to pay postage or buy the card.
  • The plastic containers that baby food is in are great to save and put small amounts of leftovers in to freeze, or to freeze small amounts of zucchini, etc. They can be used to sort nails, screws and have a lid to keep them from spilling.
These are just a few that I love to do in order to be called frugal! Not an insult to be called frugal!

MeeMee's Recipes

I always disliked cooking but it seems that is all I do now since we have 3 kids and 3 kids plus(our in laws) and then five grandchildren. So I am getting over my "dislike" to cook very fast!

I am going to try to enter some easy and tasty recipes that I cook over the years. They can't be hard because I wouldn't like them then. LOL

Money Saving Tip from the Garden

God is blessing us with an abundance in our garden of cucumbers! We are so excited. I have bought the bread and butter pickle spices packets and the dill pickle packets and put some up that way and they are good.

Then this morning we experimented with a recipe I found using dill pickle brine and cinnamon red hot candies! Yes, you read that right, cinnamon red hot candies. You mix the brine as you would for the dill pickles and then the recipe gave 1/2 cup of cinnamon red hot candies, 1/2 cup of the brine, 1/4 cup of water and boil it until the candies are melted. Then add to the jar of cut up cucumbers. I can't wait to give them a taste and I don't like sweet pickles but I do love the cinnamon red hot candies!

I also got the thought to use the dill spices packets to put up our banana peppers and even some bell peppers! I am so excicted that we will have these to eat on all winter.

Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer

Joyce Meyer is a great Christian author and I love listening to her speak and read her books. The subtitle of this book is Winning the Battle in Your Mind. Isn't that a catcher? Yes, this book is really an eye-opener for me. I am going to try to share with you how this book is changing my life.

Of course, the Lord is the only One that can read our minds but Satan has the ability to put negative and bad thoughts into our minds. Satan does not want us to think positive and good and true thoughts, he wants to instill in our minds netagive thoughts, bad thoughts, and lies. Satan is the Father of all lies.

"You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it."

(John 8:44 NKJV)
God wants us to think on what is of good report and true and worthy of our praise.

8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8 NIV

This verse is what I am commiting to memory and working on very hard. If we continually think on these things - whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-then we won't have time to think on the bad and negative.

I think this is enough to try to absorb today, well enough to absorb for a long time.df I will update more in a day or so. Enjoy committing this verse in Phillippians to memory and to heart and then to your life.

More Wonderful Money Saving Tips!

You are not going to believe what I just discovered!

I went to put some fabric softener on a wash cloth as I have reported in an earlier article and decided to find something else really fast. Well, I was going to use the Purex detergent/fabric softener sheets after they had been used and well, couldn't find any. So............
I grabbed a paper towel! I poured the fabric softener on it and WOW! it worked wonderful!

Not only did i discover that the paper town was great for a fabric sheet but.........
I spilled some fabric softener on the floor and grabbed my Swiffer Wet Mop and oh no! I was out of the pads for the mop. I usually use a wash clothe pinned or rubber banded around the mop and that works good but this time..............

I went for the paper towel. I had gotten some free samples of Viva from Wal-Mart in the mail yesterday and I grabbed one of those and taped it to my mop. Well, it worked but I might should have used two to make it softer BUT the one is still on the mop and didn't tear at all! Isn't this great! Two discoveries in one day! Well, I am on a roll!!
